CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Shepherd University (1-3) split a pair of matches at the Cedarville Invitational in volleyball action on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 25-13, 25-23, 17-25, 25-16 triumph over Glenville State (0-3) and later dropped a 2512, 25-18, 25-19 decision to UNC Pembroke (3-1).
Junior middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had 14 kills and freshman outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) added 11 to pace the Rams against Glenville State.
Sophomore setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) added 27 assists, while freshman middle hitter right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) posted a match-high five blocks. Redshirt-junior libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) added 11 digs.
Natalina Funk had seven kills and Sarah Grainger added 25 assists for Glenville State.
Freshman outside hitter Jordan Pryor (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had nine kills and Fairweather added eight against UNC Pembroke.
Buso posted 20 assists while Ellis tied UNC Pembroke's Kyelight Coglans with a match-high 10 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) posted a match-high four blocks.
Vanja Przulj recorded 10 kills for UNC Pembroke.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they face Mount Olive at 11 a.m. and Newberry at 3 p.m. for the Mount Olive Invitational.
