Former Shepherd football student assistant Russell Goodacre (Class of 2018) will be holding a book signing at Ram Stadium on Saturday Sept. 30 before and during the Shippensburg-Shepherd football game. The signing is slated to begin at 10 a.m. and run up until halftime. The signing will take place behind the home press box near the Rally Wagon.

Goodacre authored the book "Tackling Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities: A Memoir". His book was self-published in May of 2023. During his time at Shepherd University, Russell was a part of the Shepherd University Rams football program as a Student Assistant Quality Control Coach for three seasons (2015-2017), a Co-Sports Director on Shepherd University's student radio station 89.7FM WSHC for a year and a half, was awarded the Outstanding Student in Recreation and Sports Studies for the 2016-2017 academic year, inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, and a McMurran Scholar.

Russell's book was a two-year process. Diagnosed with dyslexia at an early age, he struggled to read and write as a child. With his successes in school and other aspects of life, he wanted to give back and help other people who have dyslexia and learning disabilities and let them know they can be successful despite the obstacles they may have to overcome.
