SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Shepherd University (3-6-2) dropped a 2-1 decision to Slippery Rock (3-3-3) in men's soccer action at Slippery Rock on Saturday.
The Rock took a 1-0 lead into the break when Arturo Pla Hernandis scored at the 10:26 mark on assists from Jack Smith and Aitor Jorde at the 10:26 mark.
Shepherd tied the game at the 71:38 mark when junior midfielder
Asong Nkemanjong (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Howard) scored off assists from sophomore midfielder
Dylan Shepherd (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and senior forward
Andrew West (Annandale, Va./Carlisle (Pa.)).
Aaron Finney scored the game-winner on a feed from Ryan Hanes at the 83:25 mark.
Freshman goalkeeper
Aidan Houck (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) did not record a save for the Rams. Adam Davies recorded three saves for Slippery Rock.
Shots were even at nine apiece with Shepherd holding a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. contest.
