Shepherd Men Down Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Graduate student forward Chase Paar (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg Country School/Towson) scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Shepherd University (3-2, 1-0 PSAC) to a 70-62 win over Seton Hill (5-1, 0-1 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Seton Hill on Friday.

Paar connected on 9-of-12 field goals with a 6-of-9 effort from the foul line. He added three assists, one block, and a steal.

Senior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) had 13 points and four boards, while sophomore guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) contributed nine points, five rebounds, and four assists. Freshman guard Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) and senior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) each scored eight points.

Ryan Meis scored 18 points to pace the Griffins. Kedrick Curtis added 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

Shepherd held a three-point margin at 57-54 after James Rice hit a jumper for the Griffins with 6:36 left in the regulation. The Rams closed the game on a 13-8 run to seal the victory.

Shepherd connected on 54.2 percent (26-48) of its field goals with a 37.5 percent (6-16) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 75 percent (12-16) of their free throws.

Seton Hill shot 38.3 percent (23-60) from the floor with a 25.8 percent (8-31) effort from beyond the arc. The Griffins hit 50 percent (8-16) from the foul line.

Shepherd had a 39-28 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced nine turnovers and committed 17.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to California (Pa.) for an 8 p.m. contest
