Shepherd Women’s Basketball Falls at #4 Gannon

ERIE, Pa. – Maddy Wheatley scored a game-high 14 points to lead fourth-ranked Gannon (13-1, 5-0 PSAC) to an 85-39 win over Shepherd (3-8, 0-5 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Gannon on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) led the Rams with a team-high six points and four rebounds. Freshman guard Trinity Turner (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) added five points,  five rebounds, and four assists, while freshman forward Makenna Painter (Woodstock, Va./Central) had five points and grabbed three boards.

Sophomore forward Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) contributed four points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) had four points and three rebounds.

Bri Claxon, Kate Ratliff, and Mia Slater each scored 13 points for the Golden Knights. Ratliff and Taylor Ethridge each grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

The Golden Knights had a 44-21 lead at halftime.

Shepherd connected on 25.8 percent (16-62) of its field goals with a 5.9 percent effort (1-17) from three-point range. The Rams drained 33.3 percent (6-18) of their free throws.

Gannon had a 51.6 percent (32-62) field goal percentage with a 35 percent (7-20) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Knights hit 73.7 percent (14-19) from the foul line.

Gannon had a 46-35 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 10 turnovers and committed 16.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 1 p.m. contest.
