HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Shepherd University men's and women's tennis teams swept a pair of matches with Webster University at Hilton Head on Wednesday. The Shepherd men (1-6) gained a 7-0 win over Webster (4-8), while the women (1-3) handed Webster (6-5) a 6-1 setback. Results from the women's evening match with Georgetown (Ky.) are not yet available.

Junior Khalid Alsadek (Irvine, Calif./Fountain Valley/Orange Coast College) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at number six singles and senior Arka Genguly (Pune, India/McDonald College) and senior Nicholas Espinoza (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Aleman Humboldt/Iowa Central Community College) teamed for a 6-0 triumph at number one doubles to pace the men.            

Senior Marketa Beladova (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic/Iowa Central Community College) and senior Marketa Beladova (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic/Iowa Central Community College) each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play for the women against Webster.

Sophomore Ximena Bolanos Tellez (Mineral de la Reforma, Mexico/Colegio Makarenko)  posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at number two singles against Georgetown (Ky.).  She also teamed with Beladova for a 6-3 win at number one doubles.            
 

The teams are slated to return to action on Thursday in Hilton Head when both the men and women take on Catholic at 1 p.m. The men will also face Messiah at 6:30 p.m.
