Shepherd Men Down Kutztown on Senior Day for Third Straight Win

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guards Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored a game-high 21 points to lead Shepherd (13-14,10-12 PSAC) to an 88-62 win over Kutztown (4-24, 3-19 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday for Senior Day. The Rams ran their win streak to three games.

McClain-Corley connected on 8-of-19 field goals with a 2-of-9 effort from three-point range. He hit 3-of-3 free throws. He added five boards, two assists, and two steals.

Junior guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) added 17 points and six boards, while freshman guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) had 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Michael Cooper (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) also added 12 points, while Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) contributed eight points and a game-high eight assists.                     

Junior forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) had nine points and seven boards, while sophomore guard Brendan Doleman (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) came off the bench to score eight points in four minutes of action.

Brent Ricketts Jr. led the Golden Bears with 18 points, while Jaiden McGhee had 17. Yahmir Satterfield was also in double figures with 13 points.

Shepherd had a 33-24 lead at halftime.

The Rams used a 9-2 run midway through the second half to build a 17-point lead to take control of the game.

Shepherd connected on 47.7 percent (31-65) of its field goals with a 53.1 percent (17-32) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 64.3 percent (9-14) of their free throws.

Kutztown shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the floor with a 37.4 percent (9-24) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Bears hit 81.3 percent (13-16) from the foul line.

Shepherd had a 37-32 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed five.

The fifth-seeded Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to fourth-seeded West Chester for a 7 p.m. game in first-round action of the PSAC Tournament.

Notes: Daniel McClain-Corley and Phillip Jordan were honored in a pregame ceremony for Senior Day … The pair combined for 29 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in the win … Jordan's eight assists tied a career-high effort.
