Shepherd Men Finish Sixth; Three Shepherd Women Compete at Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's golf team shot a 305 to finish sixth in a seven-team field and three members of the Shepherd University women's golf team competed at the Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invitational at the Penn Oaks Golf Club. Second round action slated for today was rained out. Tim Peters (66) of Millersville gained medalist honors for the men,  while Ari Kaser of California (Pa.) won the tiebreaker with Madilyn Sluta of West Chester (78 each) to take medalist honors for the women.

Sophomore Joey Leisinger (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown fired a 1-over-par 71 to tie for fifth place to lead the men. He was followed by sophomore Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) (76, T-21st), sophomore Nop Satjavitvisarn (Yannawa Bangkok, Thailand/International Community School) (78, T-25th), sophomore Morgan Dehoff (Rohrersville, Md./Boonsboro) (80, T-31st), and graduate student Chris Neighbors  (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (85, 37th),

Sophomore Sara Veara (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) shot an 80 to tie for fourth place to lead the women. She was followed by senior Olivia Rosick (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove) (88, 13th place) and sophomore Ryley Bolyard (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Meredith College) (100, 28th).  

The men return to action on Sunday when they travel to the Millersville Invite, while the women return to action on April 18 for the Bloomsburg Spring Invite.
