Shepherd Volleyball Announces Recruiting Class

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University head volleyball coach Alex Hoekstra announced the 2024 recruiting class. The class consists of two transfers and five freshmen student-athletes.

Junior libero/defensive specialist Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) joins the Rams after transferring from Liberty University. Faircloth was a three-time first team All-EPAC team and All-Area Team choice at Musselman. She played for a pair of West Virginia State Champion teams. Faircloth recorded 25 digs at Liberty as a freshman. She posted 19 digs, three assists, and an ace as a sophomore.

Junior middle blocker Kya Otis (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) joins the Rams after competing at Saint Augustine's. Otis was a two-time first team All-Region and second team All-State selection At Jamestown. She is a transfer from Saint Augustine's where she recorded 209 kills, 78 total blocks (34 solos), five service aces, and three assists over two seasons for the Falcons.

Freshman setter Skylar Bishop (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) lettered four years in volleyball for the Bulldogs. She was a two-time All-EPAC choice. She recorded 755 assists, 433 kills, 421 digs, 158 aces, and 129 total blocks for the Bulldogs.

Freshman outside hitter Jasmine Sires (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) played four years of girls and coed volleyball at Gaithersburg.  A two-time team captain, Sires earned Senior All-Star honors and was invited to play in the Senior All-County Game.  A standout in the classroom, she graduated in the top five percent in her class as she carried a 3.98 UW GPA and a 4.87 GPA.

Freshman defensive specialist/libero Kiela Sanger (Sunnyvale, Texas/Sunnyvale) lettered in volleyball at Sunnyvale. She competed at five different high schools. She was named to the National Honors Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

"Kiela has great ball control and defensive instincts. She will push a very loaded back-row unit."

Freshman defensive specialist  Shary Suazo-Tejada (Westminster, Md./Glen Burnie) lettered in volleyball and lacrosse at Glen Burnie. She was named to the National Honor Society and National Music Honor Society. Suazo-Tejada gained All-County honors in violin.

Freshman defensive specialist Brooke Borvansky (Round Hill, Va./Woodgrove) joins her sister, Brielle, on the roster.
