KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's cross country team finished 12th in a 12-team field with a score of 338 in an 8K race, while the women finished 10th in a 10-team field with a score of 282 in a 6K race at the DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown on Friday evening. Shippensburg took the men's and women's team titles.
The men were led by sophomore
Connor Ireland (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) who finished 63rd with a time of 31:23.94. He was followed by senior
James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (64th, 31:54.1), junior
Parker Mackey (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman)(66th, 31:54.21) freshman
Jackson Fiolek (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Washington)(71st, 33:19.84), and junior
Nick Yankle (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) (74th,35:16.27).
The women were led by junior
Riley Staub (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) who finished 39th with a time of 25:47.05. She was followed by sophomore
Camryn Row (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) (52nd, 26:07.51), sophomore
Elizabeth Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) (61st, 28:36.73), freshman
Zoe Boyd (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) (64th,30:35.39), and freshman
Ashley Anderson (Charles Town, W.Va./Woodgrove (Va.)) (66th, 34:14.61)
The Rams return to action on Sept. 28 when they travel to Salisbury, Md. for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
