BELLE VERNON, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's and women's golf teams completed action at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.) at the Cedarbrook Golf Course at Belle Vernon on Tuesday. The men finished in fourth place in an eight-team field, while the women placed ninth in a nine-team field. Host California (Pa .) won the men's title, while Alvernia took the women's title.
Junior Joey Leisinger (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) led the Rams with a second place finish as he shot three-over for the tournament. He was followed by junior Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) (8th, +9), freshman Andrew Taylor (Summit Point, W.Va./Washington) (T-17th, +14), junior Morgan Dehoff (Rohrersville, Md./Boonsboro) (T-20th, +16), and sophomore Jimmy Goldsborough (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) (T-39th, +30).
Junior Sara Veara (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) led the women with a seventh place (+14) performance. She was followed by graduate student Amanda Deener (Middletown, Md./Frederick Christian Academy/Homeschool Umbrella Program) (36th, +33), graduate student Olivia Rosick (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove) (T-37th, +34), and freshman Kaylie Brown (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) (49th, +53).
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to the Cardinal Classic.
