SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's cross country team finished ninth in a 10-team field with a score of 273 in a 6K race, while the women's cross country team finished seventh in an eight-team field with a score of 184 in a 4K race at the 14th Annual Galen Piper Invitational at Shippensburg on Friday evening.
The men were led by junior
Parker Mackey (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) who finished 50th with a time of 22:39.3. He was followed by sophomore
Connor Ireland (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) (51st, 22:57.4), senior
James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (53rd, 23:09.4), freshman
Jackson Fiolek (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Washington)(56th, 23:35.8), and junior
Nick Yankle (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) (63rd, 26:01.0).
The women were led by junior
Riley Staub (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) who finished 23rd with a time of 16:43.0. She was followed by freshman
Camryn Row (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) (31st, 17:13.3), sophomore
Elizabeth Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) (42nd, 18:42.3), freshman
Zoe Boyd (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) (43rd, 19:38.2), and freshman
Ashley Anderson (Charles Town, WV/Woodgrove (Va.)) (45th, 23:33.9).
The Rams return to action next Friday when they travel to Kutztown for the DII/DIII Challenge.
