W.Va. – Sophomore guard
Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) scored a career-high 25 points to lead Shepherd (5-5, 2-2 PSAC) to an 83-64 win over Edinboro (4-5, 1-2) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Wordlaw connected on 10-of-17 field goals with a 1-of-4 effort from three-point range. He was 4-of-4 from the line.
Sophomore guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 18 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) had 17 points.
Freshman guard
Colby White (Buckingham, Va./Blue Ridge) tossed in 13 points and sophomore forward
Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) tied a career-high effort with 14 rebounds.
Rowan Carmichael scored 17 points to lead the Fighting Scots. Mekhi Reynolds added 16 points, while Amaan Sandhu had 12.
The Rams used an 18-8 run in the latter part of the first half to take control of the contest as they opened up a 19-point lead. Shepherd.took a 43-24 advantage into the break.
Shepherd connected on 51.6 percent (33-64) of its field goals with a 40 percent (6-15) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 84.6 percent (11-13) of their free throws.
Edinboro shot 37.9 percent (25-66) from the floor with a 37 percent (10-27) effort from beyond the arc. The Fighting Scots hit 40 percent (4-10) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 41-33 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed eight.
The Rams return to action on Jan. 2 when they travel to Clarion for a 5 p.m. contest.
