ERIE, Pa. – Shepherd University (19-11) fell to Pitt-Johnstown (18-11) in three sets in NCAA II Atlantic Regional quarterfinal volleyball action hosted by Gannon on Thursday evening. The Mountain Cats posted a 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 win.
Junior outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) and junior middle/right side hitter Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) each led the Rams with eight kills and three digs. Freshman outside hitter Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./ Musselman) and freshman right side hitter Emily Ryder (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) had five kills. McCoy also added four digs.
Senior setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) recorded 24 assists, four kills, four digs, and an ace. Sophomore libero Kiela Sanger (Sunnyvale, Texas/Sunnyvale) had a team-high 12 digs. Senior libero Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty University) contributed six digs and three assists.
Ellie Zuro Cirino had a match-high 17 kills for the Mountain Cats. Abby Berry had a match-high 36 assists and nine digs.
Shepherd completes its season, while Pitt-Johnstown advances to face host Gannon in the semifinals on Friday.
