Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Michelle Kozicki had 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead West Chester (10-12, 7-8 PSAC) to a 63-39 win over Shepherd (4-18, 1-15 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at West Chester on Wednesday.
Sophomore guard
Samiyah Nasir (Gwynn Oak, Md./Howard/College of Saint Rose) scored a team-high nine points and two steals to lead the Rams. She connected on 3-of-6 field goals with a 1-of-3 effort from three-point range. Nasir was 2-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Freshman forward
Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) contributed eight points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard
Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) added seven points and six boards. Sophomore forward
Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) added four points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Anna McTamney posted 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Golden Rams. Bella Mazur added 12 points.
The game was tied at 22-22 at halftime.
West Chester outscored Shepherd, 20-9, in the third quarter to pull away for the win.
Shepherd had a 28.6 percent (16-56) field goal percentage with a 18.2 percent (2-11) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 62.5 percent (5-8) from the foul line.
The Golden Rams connected on 47.1 percent (24-51) of its field goals with 33.3 percent effort (4-12) from three-point range. West Chester hit 68.8 percent (11-16) of their free throws.
West Chester had a 37-34 rebounding advantage. Shepherd forced 18 turnovers and committed 23.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
