Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (8-8) swept Indiana (Pa.) (2-7) in baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Sunday. The Rams recorded a 3-2 win in game one and added a 14-0 victory in the nightcap.
IUP took a 1-0 lead in the second inning in game one as Robert Carfagno singled and later scored on a single by Ricardo Aponte.
The Crimson Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the third when Elijah Dunn walked and later scored on a sacrifice by Carfagno.
Shepherd tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as junior outfielder
Nik Rubendall (East Norriton, Pa./Pope John Paul II) reached on a hit-by-pitch and redshirt freshman catcher
Colin Ahart (Pennsauken, N.J./St. Joseph Academy) reached on an infield error. Redshirt-senior infielder
Wyatt Miles (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove/Frederick CC) later laced a single up the middle to plate the pair.
Senior third baseman
Aidan Greaney (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll/Frederick Community College) belted a one-out solo blast to left in the seventh to give the Rams the win.
Redshirt senior pitcher
Eli Lam (Elkton, Va./Spotswood/Patrick Henry Community College) (4.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 K, 3 BB) (2-1) tossed hitless ball in relief to pick up the win. Derrick Shields (6.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 6 K, 1 BB) (0-1) took the loss.
