Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls to #12 East Stroudsburg; Witmer Sets Mark

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Ariana Tucci scored five goals to lead #12 East Stroudsburg (13-4, 10-2 PSAC East) to a 14-6 win over Shepherd (4-12, 1-11 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday. Senior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) recorded seven ground balls on the day to break the Shepherd single-season mark of 63 ground balls set by Paige Stoner in 2023. Witmer tallied 65 ground balls on the year.

Senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) led the Rams with three goals.

Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora)added a goal and an assist. Junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), and freshman midfielder Katherine Stevenson (Middletown, Md./Middletown) each netted a goal.

Witmer also added a game-high six caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Senior defender Campbell Vitek (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) (3 GB, 1 CT) and sophomore defender Luetta Seipp (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) (3 GB, 2 DC) also keyed the Shepherd defensive play. Freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) and sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) both recorded four draw controls.

Sadie Kauffmann added four goals and two assists for the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg had a 10-3 advantage at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 14 saves for the Rams. Abby Simonetti posted 16 saves for the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg had a 34-27 advantage in shots with a 28-22 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 17-of-21 in clears and East Stroudsburg was 21-of-24. The Rams had a 23-20 advantage in ground balls and a 13-11 edge in draw controls.
