Shepherd University Congratulates Tyson Bagent on NFL Success and Exemplifying the Rams’ Spirit of Service and Success

Bagent recently earned national recognition for his humility after signing a two-year, $10 million contract extension with the Chicago Bears

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –- Shepherd University proudly celebrates alumnus Tyson Bagent '22, for signing a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears, valued at $10 million.  
 
The agreement secures Bagent's role with the team through the 2027 NFL season. 
 
Bagent recently made national headlines for his heartfelt reaction to the extension, during which he expressed his gratitude and desire to uplift others.  

"We are thrilled to see him [Bagent] receive this well-deserved recognition," Shepherd University President Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix said. "The values Tyson demonstrates on the national stage define his character and exemplify what Shepherd University seeks to impart to the next generation—excellence, humility, hard work, and service to others."
 
Bagent was a standout quarterback for the Rams (2018-22) before earning a key role within the Chicago Bears franchise.
 
His performance and leadership have drawn praise from Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson, who described Bagent as a respected presence in the locker room. 
"Tyson epitomizes what we are building at the Chicago Bears," Johnson said in a statement. "We are constructing a team that is driven by belief and built by hard work, and there is no better example of that than Tyson Bagent." 
 
General Manager Ryan Poles expressed how fortunate they are to have Bagent on board. 
 
"He is one of the hardest workers on our team and in addition to being a great competitor and teammate, he is a catalyst for positive influence throughout our entire organization," Poles said.
