GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's and women's golf teams completed first-round action at the WCU Battlefield Classic hosted by West Chester at The Links at Gettysburg on Monday. The men are in second place in a seven-team field, while the women are in eighth in an eight–team field.
Senior Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) shot a 74 to tie for fourth to pace the men. He was followed by senior Joey Leisinger (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) (76, T-10th), sophomore Killian Donnelly (Palmyra, Va./Palmyra) (77, T-12th), senior Morgan Dehoff (Rohrersville, Md./Boonsboro) (78, T-15th), and senior Nop Satjavitvisarn (Yannawa Bangkok, Thailand/International Community School) (82, T-28th).
Senior Luke Davis (Clear Brook, Va./James Wood) fired a 78 and tied for 15th as he is competing as an individual.
Senior Sara Veara (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) fired a 79 and is tied for sixth place to lead the women. She was followed by sophomore Kaylie Brown (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) (91, T-24th), freshman Addison Buckland (New Market, Md./Urbana) 98, T-28th), and freshman Madison Burns (Hagerstown, Md./Grace Academy) (177, 39th).
The Rams return to action on Tuesday for final-round tourney action.
