Shepherd Women Edged by Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Alana Robinson hit a jumper with eight seconds remaining to lift  Lock Haven (13-5, 10-3 PSAC East) to a 59-58 win over Shepherd University (5-13, 3-10 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's basketball action at Lock Haven on Saturday.
 
Junior guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) led the Rams with 17 points. She was 5-of-15 from the floor with a 3-of-7 effort from three-point range. She connected on 4-of-4 free throws. Wehner also grabbed three rebounds.
 
Sophomore forward Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) added 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a pair of steals.
 
Junior forward Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty/Frostburg State) and freshman forward Vilte Kacerauskaite (Waldorf, Md./Saint Mary's) each contributed eight points.
 
Robinson led the Bald Eagles with a game-high 20 points. Rhlyn Rouse added 17 points and seven boards, while Madeline Evans had nine points and 15 rebounds.

There were five ties and 10 lead changes in the game.
 
Shepherd took a 10-point lead at 56-46 with 4:14 left in the fourth quarter after a pair of free throws by Estridge. Lock Haven followed with a 13-2 run to gain the win.

Shepherd had a 36.1 percent (22-61) field goal percentage with a 25 percent (3-12) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 91.7 percent (11-12) from the foul line. 
 
Lock Haven connected on 37.9 percent (22-58) of its field goals with a 0 percent effort (0-16) from three-point range. The Bald Eagles hit 71.4  percent (15-21) of their free throws.
 
Lock Haven had a 43-23 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 21 turnovers and committed 13.  
 
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Shippensburg for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
