Biography

2015: Appeared and started in all 51 games... gained second team All-MEC honors as he batted .436 with 82 hits in 188 at-bats... drove in 33 runs and scored 60... added eight doubles, two triples, and a home run... drew 26 walks... was 8-of-11 in stolen bases... named a third team Capital One Academic All-American.

2014: Appeared and started in 50 games...batted .375 with 54 hits in 144 at-bats... drove in 38 runs and scored 31...added seven doubles, two triples, and a home run...was 21-of-23 in stolen bases... drew 22 walks... gained first team All-MEC honors... also garnered first team All-Region accolades from ABCA/Rawlings, NCBWA, and Daktronics.

Prior to Shepherd: A 2013 graduate of Sherando High School where he played baseball for Pepper Martin...a four year letterwinner in baseball... member of the 2013 state champion team...also played on four regular season and tournament district  champion squads... a two-time first team all All-District and All-Region choice.. was also a two-time honorable mention All-State selection.

Personal: The son of Thomas and Virginia Carney... majoring in biology.
