Anthony Jackson

Anthony Jackson enters his third season as an assistant coach at Shepherd University.
Jackson serves as the hitting coach for the baseball program and has seen a rise in the team’s overall batting average over the past two seasons, including the team batting average of .328 in 2013 that was 21st nationally. Under Jackson’s tutelage, both Michael Lott and Ryan Messina have hit over .400 in 2013 and earned All-American honors.

Jackson employs a simplistic approach to hitting that has brought Shepherd baseball to be known as one of the best hitting teams in the Atlantic Region. A former catcher for the Rams, Jackson also works with the team
’s backstops. He has developed a reputation for producing a disciplined and highly motivated catcher behind the plate.
Jackson is responsible for and takes great pride in the care of Shepherd’s Fairfax Field, one of the more impressive Division II baseball complexes in the region.

Jackson experienced a highly-successful playing career at Shepherd in 2009-10. During his time as a player for the Rams, Jackson was a two-time All-Conference performer and was a key component for the 2009 Atlantic Regional team.
Jackson has gained coaching experience dating back to 2010 when his coaching career started with the Staunton Braves of the prestigious Valley Baseball League. Jackson spent three summers coaching with the Braves.
Jackson earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Shepherd in 2011.
He currently resides in Martinsburg.
