Entering his first season on the Shepherd baseball staff is Zach Guth, who joined the Rams in September 2024. He brings an impressive background as a player and a coach to Shepherdstown.
Guth served as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst University since 2022 and helped lead the Lakers to a D2 NCAA Atlantic Regional appearance. He also worked within the admissions department at Mercyhurst. Prior to Mercyhurst, Guth was an assistant director of scouting in Pennsylvania for Prep Baseball Report from 2020-2022.
Guth played two years, redshirting one, at the University of Maryland making 12 appearances out of the bullpen his freshman year. He then transferred to Harford Community College where he posted a 2.57 ERA with 65 strikeouts on his way to a 10-0 record. Guth was picked in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves in the 26th round out of Harford Community College. He played with the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies organizations from 2018-2020.
Guth is a native of Franklin, Pa. He is married to Katie Guth. They have two cats named Motley and Crue and a dog, Griffey. Guth graduated from Arizona State University in 2025.
