Jason Hare is entering his ninth year on the Shepherd staff. Hare coaches the wide receivers after previously working with the tight ends and fullbacks.
Hare coached Cameron Dorner to second team All-PSAC East honors in 2024. Dorner led the Rams in receptions (52), receiving yards (702), and receiving touchdowns.(5).
Shepherd wide receiver Jeremiah Taylor gained first team All-PSAC East honors in 2023 under Hare as he led the Rams with 66 receptions for  859 yards and eight touchdowns. The Rams ranked third in the PSAC in passing offense, team passing efficiency, and total offense.
Hare's pupil, Marlon Cook, gained All-American honors in 2022 as he recorded 68 catches for 1,030 yards and eight touchdowns.
Hare mentored standout wide receiver Ryan Beach in 2021. Beach had 98 receptions for 1,199 yards and 13 touchdowns and was named 2021 PSAC East Rookie of the Year and a first team All-PSAC East Selection. Additionally, wide receiver Josh Gontarek gained All-PSAC East Honors as he had 69 receptions for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021.
He has coached Shepherd All-American tight end DJ Cornish. Cornish was a three-time first team All-Conference performer and a three-time All-Region choice. The two-time All-American completed a stellar career in 2019.
Hare grew up in Western Maryland and played quarterback for Fort Hill and went on to play three years of minor league professional football. He has four children and has also been a local businessman in the community for the past 30 years.Â
