Levern Belin (pronounced “Lee-vern” “Be-lin”) enters his first season as the defensive line coach. Belin joined the Shepherd staff in July 2022.
Belin comes to Shepherd after serving as the defensive line coach at the University of Delaware for the past five seasons.
He previously had stints as the defensive line coach at the University of Richmond (2011-17) and Liberty University (2009-11). He coached three playoff teams at Richmond and a pair of Big South Conference champion teams at Liberty.
Belin also worked with the defensive line at the University of Virginia (2005-08) where he worked with a pair of bowl teams including the 2005 Music City Bowl champions. He coached the defensive tackles at Northern Illinois (2004-05) and worked with the linebackers and defensive line at William & Mary (2001-04).
He also had coaching experience at the University of Maryland (Defensive Line, 1999-2000), Ball State (Outside Linebackers, Defensive Ends, and Defensive Line 1994-99), East Tennessee State (Linebackers, 1993-94), Boston University (Defensive Line, 1992-93), and Boston College (Defensive Backs, 1991-92).
