Prior to Shepherd: A 2014 graduate of Capital High School where he played football for Jon Carpenter... lettered in football, wrestling, and lacrosse... was a first team All-State, first team All-MSAC, and first team All-Kanawha Valley choice as a senior... named the Hunt Award winner as the best lineman in the state... placed fourth in the state in his weight class... had 31 tackles-for-loss, 17 sacks, and three blocked punts... a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: The son of William "Tim" Walton and Jennifer Davis-Walton... majoring in computer engineering.
