• 2021 PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week (11/8)

2021: Appeared and started in all 15 games ... recorded 55 tackles (33 solos) ... led the team with 18.5 tackles-for-loss (-88 yards and sacks with 10 (-70 yards ... added a pair of pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.

2020-21: Appeared in the Mercyhurst game ... recorded two solo tackles with a sack (-5 yards).

2019: Appeared in 13 games with seven starts ... recorded 44 tackles (30 solo) ... led the team with 17.5 tackles-for-loss (-78 yards) and 9.5 sacks (-61 yards) ... added two pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles.

2018: Appeared in 10 games ... recorded 15 tackles (eight solo) ... had two tackles-for-loss (-7 yards) and one sack (-2 yards).

2017: Redshirted.

Prior to Shepherd: A 2017 graduate of Dominion High School where he played football for Karl Buckwalter ... a four-year letterwinner in football .... gained All-State honors at linebacker ... recorded 149 tackles, 36 assists,  three fumble recoveries, and one interception.

Personal: The son of John and Jana Smith ... majoring in business ... his brother, Chad,  was a linebacker at Clemson (2015-19).
