Lewis enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Rams after joining the Rams for the 2015-16 season.
The Rams posted a 16-13 overall mark with a 12-10 record in conference play in 2017-18. Senior A.J. Carr gained first team All-MEC honors for the second consecutive season and sophomore guard Thomas Lang earned honorable mention All-MEC accolades.
Lewis helped lead the Rams to a 19-11 overall mark with a 15-7 record in conference play in 2016-17. Juniors AJ Carr (first team) and Steffen Davis (honorable mention) gained All-MEC honors.
Shepherd posted a 15-14 mark with a 10-12 record in conference play in 2015-16. Senior Ryan McTavish garnered second team All-MEC honors.
Prior to Shepherd Lewis served as an assistant boys basketball coach and an assistant baseball coach at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford, Virginia. He also taught at Colonial Forge as a health and physical education and adaptive physical education instructor.
Lewis helped guide Colonial Forge to a pair of Virginia 6A State championships 2013-14, 2014-15) as the Eagles compiled a 54-3 record over that period. He also coached a pair of first team All-State performers, including two-time State Player of the Year Marco Haskins.
Lewis also served as a volunteer administrative assistant for the University of Arkansas men’s basketball team for the 2003-04 season.
Lewis was a four-year letterwinner for the men’s basketball team at Frostburg State University and served as a team captain as a senior. He helped lead Frostburg State to a 45-35 mark over his final three seasons. The Bobcats finished as ECAC South Runners-up in 1993 and 1994. He was named Co-Defensive MVP as a senior. Lewis was also a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter on the Bobcats’ baseball team.
