Ryan McDougall

Ryan McDougall enters his fifth season as head coach of the Shepherd men's soccer program after being named head coach in 2021. 

Shepherd finished the season with a three-game unbeaten streak and posted a 5-9-3 overall mark. Donika Elhani and Ebenezer Solomon gained second team All-PSAC East honors, while Aidan Houck earned United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region honors. Additionally, Wesam Abu-Rabia and Asong Nkemanjong garnered CSC Academic All-District honors.

In 2023 Mac Long gained second team All-PSAC East honors for the Rams. Additionally, Conner Brown earned CSC Academic All-District accolades.

In 2022 Conner Brown, Brandon Hurt, and Billy Wood garnered CSC Academic All-District honors.

McDougall came to Shepherd after a stint as assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. At UTRGV, McDougall helped lead the Vaqueros to a second place finish in the WAC and a WAC Tournament appearance in the Spring 2021 season. 

Prior to coaching at UTRGV, McDougall was an assistant men's soccer coach at West Virginia Wesleyan from 2012-20. He worked primarily with the goalkeepers. McDougall helped lead the team to five playoff appearances, including an MEC championship and an appearance in the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2017. 

McDougall was a four-year starter at goalkeeper for the Bobcats from 2008-12. He helped lead the team to an NCAA II Elite Eight appearance in 2010. McDougall played in all 24 matches and recorded 12 shutouts en route to first team All-WVIAC honors. He added first team All-WVIAC honors in 2011 and finished his career with 50 career matches, 30 wins, 24 shutouts, 177 saves, an 0.80 goals-against average, and a 0.83 save percentage.  

McDougall has experience working with goalkeepers at different levels. He has been the U9-U17 girls' goalkeeper coach for the Olympic Development Program in West Virginia since 2015. McDougall also has worked with goalkeepers at the University of Indiana men's soccer camp and has worked the Gavin Donaldson Edge Camp. 
 
McDougall graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
