Carla Shepherd

Carla Shepherd enters her first season as assistant softball coach at Shepherd.

Shepherd brings an extensive coaching background to Shepherd after spending the last several seasons as an assistant at George Mason University. While at George Mason, Shepherd managed the pitching and catching staffs. She was instrumental in lowering the team earned run average in successive seasons.
 
Prior to coaching at George Mason, Shepherd had assistant coaching stints at South Dakota State, Occidental College, and Louisiana State University Eunice.

A 2007 graduate of the University of the South at Sewanee, Shepherd earned a degree in U.S. History with a concentration in education, and completed a master's degree in sports management from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2010.
 
Shepherd started her collegiate played career at College of Charleston where she posted a 7-2 mark with a 2.36 ERA in 2003. She later moved on to North Carolina State where she led the ACC in saves and garnered Georgia Tech Tournament MVP accolades in 2004. She finished her career as University of the South Sewanee where she had a 1.66 ERA and set a school single season record with 160 strikeouts as a senior.
