Leslie Lopez

Leslie Lopez enters her seventh season as head softball coach at Shepherd University. She has posted a 174-132 overall mark (.568) in her six seasons at the helm for the Rams.

Shepherd posted a 31-24 overall mark in 2012 to record its third consecutive season of 30 wins or more.

The Rams posted a 32-15 mark with a 19-5 conference mark in 2011. The 19 wins set a new program mark. Lopez became the program's winningest coach on April 17 when Shepherd swept Davis & Elkins to give her 116 career wins. She surpassed the old mark of 144 held by Dave Trail.

Lopez led the Rams to arguably its finest season ever in 2010. The Rams posted 36-16 overall mark and an 18-6 record in WVIAC play. The 36 wins are a new program record. Shepherd finished the regular season ranked sixth in the Atlantic region and became the first team in program history to win a postseason game when they downed third-seeded Kutztown.

The Rams recorded a 23-23 overall record in 2009 with a 15-13 conference mark. Shepherd was ranked among the top five teams in the WVIAC in both batting and fielding.

In her first season Lopez's squad set numerous records en route to a 29-26 overall mark. The Rams set new single season marks for most games (55), most at-bats (1,512), most hits (411), most total bases (617), most home runs (32), most doubles (94), and most RBIs (214). In addition, Stephanie Sims became the first player in program history to gain All-Region honors.

Lopez came to Shepherd after serving as assistant softball coach at Slippery Rock University for two years. She also has had coaching stints as an assistant at Steubenville (OH) Catholic Central High School and as head coach for the Steubenville Catholic Central Crusaders of the Wheeling (WV) Recreational Fast Pitch Summer League.

Lopez is a 2004 graduate of Bethany College where she was a four-year standout in softball for the Bison. She was a three-time All-Region choice and a two-time Academic All-American selection.

Lopez resides in Martinsburg. She is an active member of the NFCA and serves on the DII Top 25 Committee, DII Regional Committee, and DII Head Coaches Committee.
