Josie Daugherty enters her second season as assistant women's basketball coach for the Rams after joining the staff in July 2025.
Daugherty helped the 2025-26 Rams rebound from a slow start in her first season and win eight of their last 12 games and gain its first PSAC Tournament appearance since 2022. Additionally, Lamaria Estridge and Kara Wehner gained first team All-PSAC East honors.
Daugherty comes to Shepherd after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Fairmont State University for the past two seasons. She helped lead the Fighting Falcons to a 27-6 mark, an MEC Championship, and a regional appearance in 2023-24. The team followed that up with a 27-5 overall mark and a regional appearance in 2024-25. Additionally, Fairmont State standout Leslie Huffman was named to a pair of All-American teams in 2024-25.
Daugherty was a former Fairmont State women's basketball student-athlete for two seasons (2017-18 and 2018-19) and appeared in 32 games. She completed her undergraduate studies at West Liberty University and earned her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education.
Daugherty was a standout basketball player at Wheeling Park High School, and she returned to coach at her alma mater for four seasons after graduating from West Liberty.
