Macey Hollenshead

Macey Hollenshead enters her second season an assistant women's basketball coach for the Rams.

Shepherd posted a 2-0 mark in 2020-21 in an abbreviated season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hollenshead came to Shepherd after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Seton Hill women's basketball program.

She helped the Griffins to their seventh straight PSAC Tournament berth last season. Two Griffins earned All PSAC honors and the team won the top spot in the WBCA Division II Top 25 Academic Honor Roll.

“I am so thrilled to have Macey join our family,” said Eckleberry. “She had a great collegiate playing career along with two great coaching years at a PSAC school. Macey was a point guard and her knowledge of the game will be very beneficial. She also brings recruiting ties from the Pennsylvania-Maryland area. She is young, ready to learn, and will bring new thoughts and ideas to our program. She is a hard worker and will be great in the skill development of our players. Macey has great energy and her personality meshes with mine. I am really looking forward to working with Macey.”

A native of Needmore, Pennsylvania, Hollenshead graduated from Fairfield University with a bachelor of science degree in Accounting with a minor in Sports Leadership and Management. She graduated from Fairfield with a 3.74 GPA and was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. Hollenshead gained her MBA degree from Seton Hill in 2020.

“I am extremely excited to join the Ram family and I look forward to working with Coach Eckleberry,” said Hollenshead. “I am looking forward to getting back on the court and working with our student-athletes.”

While at Fairfield, Hollenshead served as a senior team captain. As a senior she played in 30 games, making 11 starts and averaged 5.3 points per game.  In her first start of the season, she scored 14 points to lead the team to a win over Rider. She led the team in three-point shooting percentage with a 38 percent mark.

Hollenshead was a four-sport letterwinner at Southern Fulton High School. She became the school’s first female athlete to earn a Division I scholarship. She was a first team All-State selection as a senior and a second team All-State selection as a junior. She helped the Indians to three district championships and was a three-time All-District selection
