David Arist

David Arist is in his third season with the Shepherd women’s soccer program. His insight on game day and experience with leadership has helped the program grow in the last few years. Arist brings a long history of both soccer and business to Shepherd, having excelled as a player at various levels.

Born and raised in the soccer hotbed of Baltimore, Arist grew up in Harford County and lettered on the varsity soccer team at C. Milton Wright all four years. He served as team captain his junior and senior years, and received All-County honors the same years, and All-State honors his senior year. He had the unique opportunity to travel abroad with the U-17 Team USA club and played in Holland, Czech Republic, and Russia.

Deciding to stay local for college, Arist played for both Harford Community College and Stevenson University and helped both teams to successful seasons. Following his love for soccer and building on his passion for business, Arist found the best of both worlds landing the Director of Sales position with the Baltimore Blast, a perennial power in the MISL. He then moved to the position of Director of Corporate Sponsorships for the Blast where he flourished and did some groundbreaking work with sponsorships and marketing ideas. His other business experience has involved serving as the Executive Director of a charitable organization, land development, and most recently some entrepreneurial endeavors with real estate and app development.

Returning to his love of soccer, David entered the coaching ranks and was able to return to his alma mater to lead the JV girls’ soccer team at C. Milton Wright. David was able to make immediate contributions as a new coach leading the team to three successful seasons, capped off by the 2011 season when they went undefeated in the county. Many of his players moved on to be successful players on the varsity team and then on to successful collegiate careers.

“We are thrilled to have David jon our staff here at Shepherd,” said head coach Jonathan Thayil. “David’s love of soccer and solid background in business bring a wealth of new resources to our coaching staff, and we look forward to using his expertise to build the program in new and innovative ways.”
