Dustin Robbins enters his eighth season with the Shepherd women’s soccer program. He has served the program over the last eight years, and has served in a variety of roles: Goalkeeper Coach, Associate Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, and many more with or without official titles.

Robbins has been an integral part of the program since 2007, and much of the program’s success over that time can be attributed to his hard work and vision. Robbins was responsible for the large and talented recruiting class in 2011; a class that helped turn the program around in just one year. In his role as recruiting coordinator, Robbins has been able to find some of the best talent in the local area, as well as players from the Mid-Atlantic region.

“Dustin is the driving force behind our recruiting efforts,” head coach Jonathan Thayil said.  “His connections with area coaches as well as his eye for talent will be vital as we look to make a playoff run in the new Mountain East Conference.”

Robbins has also worked with local club teams over the years, and has trained numerous goalkeepers in the area. In 2008 Robbins served as the head coach of the EPIC Stars. He led the team to an undefeated WAGS U17 Division 4 spring championship and a West Virginia State Cup Championship. In the spring of 2009, he led the Stars to a runner-up finish in WAGS U19 Division 3.

“We are very lucky to have a coach like Dustin on board with us here at Shepherd,” said head coach Jonathan Thayil. “His commitment, drive, and ability to develop players have translated into success for the women’s team.,Additionally, he is a gifted tactical coach, and a wonderful person to work with on a personal and professional level.”

Prior to arriving at Shepherd, Robbins spent one year as an assistant with The University of Findlay. He was heavily involved with the day-to-day operations of both the men’s and women’s programs and was the head coach of the men’s reserve team. He was also an assistant coach for the boys U19 Findlay Soccer Club.

Robbins, a 2005 graduate of Findlay, was a standout goalkeeper for the Oilers. He was a two-time All-GLIAC selection who recorded 240 career saves to produce a 1.33 goals against average and a .664 win percentage. His 17 career shutouts still stand as a school record.

A native of Ohio, Robbins attended Union-Scioto High School where he was a two-time all-state performer in soccer and track and ranks 17th in the state for career saves. In 2005, he was inducted into his high school’s athletic hall of fame.
