Honors and Awards
• 2024 United Soccer Coaches Division II Atlantic Region Staff of the Year

Patrick Grey finished his second season as an assistant coach of the Shepherd women’s soccer program.

During the Fall 2024 season, Grey assisted the Rams to an 18-2-4 record in an historic season that saw the team crowned PSAC Eastern Division Champions, PSAC Conference Champions, and NCAA Atlantic Region Champions. Over the course of the season, Grey helped the program maintain a United Soccer Coaches National Top 25 ranking for 12 consecutive weeks and ended the season #8 in the nation, and #1 in the Atlantic Region.

In 2023, Grey was part of a coaching staff that led the Rams to a 7-5-6 record, and the highest winning percentage in program history with a mark of 0.555. This fall was also the program’s first winning season since 2005 - just narrowly missing out on the playoffs for the second year running and recorded the team’s best finish in the PSAC since moving from the MEC in 2019. The Rams also achieved their first regional ranking in program history.

During his two years with the program, Grey has earned an overall record of 25-7-10.

Working predominantly with the defensive unit, Grey has overseen a substantial improvement in the program’s defensive record, taking the program from conceding 1.7 goals per game in 2022 prior to his arrival to 1.3 goals per game in his inaugural season of 2023, and 0.8 goals per game in the 2024 season. Shepherd ended the 2024 PSAC season conceding only six goals, a conference high, and earning a program record 11 shutouts. During his time on the program, Grey has mentored goalkeeper Hannah Wilt and defender Delaney Bittner to United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American honors, and defender Madison Herb to PSAC All-Conference Second Team honors.

Grey plays a vital role in all facets of the program including recruiting, film review, on-field player development, and game management.

An Auckland, New Zealand native, Grey grew up learning his soccer with the Wynrs Academy. During which time, he participated in an array of international level club tournaments including becoming Champions of Oceania to qualify for the Manchester United Premier Cup, held in Manchester, England, the One Nations Cup held in Bremen, Germany, and the Seoul Invitational held in Seoul, South Korea.

Grey went on to graduate from Caldwell University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in history. While at Caldwell, Grey was a four-year member of the men's soccer team from 2014-17. During his time at Caldwell, he started all 71 of the 71 games he played and amassed over 6,200 minutes to become one of Caldwell’s all time minutes leaders. Grey was part of a Caldwell team that recorded its best season in program history and captained the side for his final two seasons with the squad.

Grey holds his USSF D License.
