Faisal Hallaj is currently in his fifth season as the assistant volleyball coach at Shepherd University. Hallaj is dedicated to the building of strong foundations in volleyball, and brings his experience of defensive system building to the forefront as Shepherd volleyball's defensive coordinator. Â
As the club director for Potomac Elite Volleyball Club, Hallaj has made it a personal mission to grow the game of volleyball and provide a positive, safe, and affordable home for those players committed to pursuing their passion of volleyball.

Hallaj came to Shepherd after serving as head volleyball coach for Woodgrove High School in Purcellville, Virginia for three years.  As Woodgrove's first volleyball coach, he was responsible for building a program, and the team of coaches and staff that competed in one of the toughest high school volleyball districts in Virginia.
Hallaj is a certified USA Volleyball CAP Level 2 coach, as well as a Gold Medal Squared Level 2 coach. Â Ue is also USAV IMPACT certified and an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association, and the Amateur Athletic Union.
Hallaj utilizes his extensive background in Tae Kwon Do training to help build strong, balanced, and intuitive athletes.  With over 20 years of training, Hallaj placed in the United States top 10 in 1990 and 1991.
