Faisal Hallaj enters his second season with the Shepherd University volleyball program. Hallaj came to Shepherd after serving as head volleyball coach for Woodgrove High School in Purcellville, Virginia for three years. As Woodgrove’s first volleyball coach, he was responsible for building a program that competed in one of the toughest high school volleyball districts in Virginia.
Hallaj has been involved with recreational and club volleyball since 2007. He has coached players from the VolleyTot level (6-9 yrs) through 18s. Hallaj is committed to growing the game of volleyball, and brings his passion and experience to help take the Rams to next level.
He is a USA Volleyball level 2 certified coach, as well as a Gold Medal Squared Level 2 coach. He is also USAV IMPACT certified, and an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association, and the Amateur Athletic Union.
He also has a diverse athletic background that includes basketball, lacrosse, soccer (including 20 years of officiating), and over 20 years of Tae Kwon Do training that placed him in the United States top 10 in 1990 and 1991. After a brief run for the Olympics, he decided to retire and pursue his family and professional path.
