Gabe Mason enters his second year as Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Shepherd since joing the Rams in June 2024.
Mason came to Shepherd from Elon University where he was in charge of the athletic development for three sports while assisting with five others. He began his tenure at Elon as Assistant Sports Performance Coach before being elevated to Associate Director of Sports Performance.
Prior to his stint at Elon, Mason was the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at Arkansas State from 2021-22. He was instrumental in developing the 2022 Sun Belt Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year.
Mason worked as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Arkansas Tech from 2019-21. He assisted with the 2021 conference champion softball team, the regional champions women's golf team, and the national champion men's golf team.
Mason graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with an emphasis in sport performance. He added a master's degree in strength and conditioning from Arkansas Tech in 2021.
Mason holds CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach - NSCA), XPS (EXOS Performance Coach), TeamBuildr Sport Science, and American CPR Care Association certifications. He adds experience in First Aid/CPR/AED Certified Experience with Catapult Playertek, Kinexon, Polar, VALD Performance, Hawkins Dynamics, Tenda, GymAware, Vitruve, JustJump, Team Buildr, 1080 Sprint, Dashr, and Brower.
