Josie Daugherty enters her first season as assistant women's basketball coach for the Rams.
Daugherty comes to Shepherd after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Fairmont State University for the past two seasons. She helped lead the Fighting Falcons to a 27-6 mark, an MEC Championship, and a regional appearance in 2023-24. The team followed that up with a 27-5 overall mark and a regional appearance in 2024-25. Additionally, Fairmont State standout Leslie Huffman was named to a pair of All-American teams in 2024-25.
Daugherty was a former Fairmont State women's basketball student-athlete for two seasons (2017-18 and 2018-19) and appeared in 32 games. She completed her undergraduate studies at West Liberty University and earned her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education.
Daugherty was a standout basketball player at Wheeling Park High School, and she returned to coach at her alma mater for four seasons after graduating from West Liberty.
