Stephen Lencz enters his first year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Shepherd University starting in June 2025 and will be working with volleyball, women’s basketball, and baseball.  

Lencz graduated from W.T. Woodson High School and completed undergraduate with a Bachelor’s of Exercise Science and a graduate degree in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. While at Shenandoah, he got to work in diverse clinical settings, gaining experience with high school sports, football, volleyball, soccer, baseball, basketball, field hockey, wrestling, and softball. He also got experience from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, NC with the baseball team.  

He is also a board-certified athletic trainer and is licensed in West Virginia. He maintains his Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification through American Red Cross and American Heart Association.  He also holds his Graston Technique certification having completed M1 course and also holds his Wilderness First Responder certification through the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).  

While attending Shenandoah University he was a part of the Baseball team as a pitcher and was a part of the Hidden Opponent as the Male Sport Representative. 

Lencz was born in Portsmouth, VA but has lived in San Diego, CA, Chicago, IL, Marathon, WI, and Fairfax, VA. He is excited to get started and have an amazing first year at Shepherd!
