SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University football team wrapped up its spring season with the annual spring scrimmage on Saturday. The Rams also honored the 2016 senior class and announced the award winners. Freshman running back Brandon Hlavach (Baltimore, Md./Eastern Tech) was named Rookie of the Year, junior offensive lineman Lavonte Hights (N. Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) was selected as Lineman of the Year, sophomore punter Ruan Venter (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) was named Special Teams Player of the Year, while senior wide receiver Billy Brown (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg)  was selected as Most Valuable Player.

The Defense edged the Offense, 44-41, in the annual spring game.
