Shepherd Men's Soccer Rallies Past Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior midfielder Kyle Ransom (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson/California {Pa.}) scored on an assist from freshman midfielder/forward Nate Howard (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) at the 92:50 mark to lift Shepherd University to a 3-2 overtime win over Lock Haven in men's soccer action at Lock Haven on Tuesday.

Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead at the 11:30 mark when Jacob Oldaker scored on an assist from Colt Brackbill.

Shepherd tied the game at the 34:57 mark on a free kick by senior defender Michael Cella (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot).

Lock Haven took a 2-1 advantage at the 59:31 mark when Jesse Smith scored off a pass from Oldaker.

Shepherd answered back at the 73:33 mark when senior forward Ricky Johnson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) scored on a cross from Ransom.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) recorded six saves for the Rams. Aleshire stopped a penalty kick with 9:17 remaining in regulation to force the extra session. Jonathan Howitt (1) and Troy Teresak (2) combined for three saves for the Bald Eagles.

Lock Haven had a 19-8 advantage in shots and a 12-6 edge in corner kicks.

Shepherd improves to 5-3-1, while Lock Haven drops to 4-3-1. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Urbana for a 3 p.m. contest.
