Box Score 2 CLOVER, S.C. – Shepherd University swept Concord University in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Clover High School as both teams opened the season on Sunday. The Rams recorded an 11-2 win in game one and added a 7-1 triumph in the nightcap.
The Rams plated eight runs in the third inning in game one. Senior catcher
Spencer Wolfe (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown/USC Aiken) belted a two-run double and sophomore outfielder
Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) added a two-run single to key the rally.
Senior outfielder
Matt Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley/Essex CC) went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and four runs scored, while sophomore outfielder
Jonathan Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary) went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in to pace the Rams.
Wolfe added a 2-for-5 effort and drove in three runs.
Junior pitcher
Sam Crater (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York/Frederick CC) (6.0 IP, 4H, 2 ER, 7 K, 2 BB) (1-0) picked up the win for the Rams.
Wilson added a 2-for-4 effort with a two-run homer to lead Shepherd in the nightcap. Carney added a 2-for-3 outing with a double and a run scored
Senior reliever
Bryan DiRosario (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary School) (3.2 IP, 0 H 1 UER, 3 K, 5 BB) (1-0) notched the win.
Shepherd improves to 2-0, while Concord falls to 0-2. The two teams return to action tomorrow for a 9:30 a.m. doubleheader.
