Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University split with Glenville State in MEC baseball doubleheader action at Fairfax Field on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 6-3 win in game one, while the Pioneers held on for an 8-5 victory in the nightcap. The loss snapped Shepherd's record-setting winning streak at 20 games.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in game one as Justin Lewis singled and later scored on a ground out by Tyler Wiseman.
The Rams took a 3-1 lead in the second behind RBI-singles from senior third baseman
Bryce Shemer (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill/Colorado Mesa), sophomore outfielder
Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando), and senior outfielder
Matt Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley/Essex CC).
Glenville cut the lead to 3-2 in the third as Lewis singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Randal Baugher.
The Rams added single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings and Glenville plated a run in the sixth to complete the scoring.
Wilson went 3-for-3 to lead the Rams. Carney, Shemer, and senior first baseman
Dom Wyshinski (Pennsville, N.J./Pennsville Memorial) each added a pair of hits.
Lewis went 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Pioneers.

Bryan DiRosario (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary School) (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 Ks, 2 BB) picked up the win to improve to 6-0. Senior closer
Brian Martin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (1.1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks, 0 BB) picked up his fifth save of the season. Wesley Stauffer (1-3) took the loss for the Pioneers.
Glenville State took advantage of eight hits and six Shepherd errors in the nightcap win.
Tucker Abruzzino went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI to lead the Pioneers. Chris Longdo and Jordan Braniff each added a pair of hits.

Jonathan Sarty (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove/William & Mary), and Wilson had two hits apiece to lead the Rams.
Junior pitcher
John Bentley (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) (3.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 0 ER, 6 Ks, 2 BB) took the loss to fall to 2-1. Kenneth Finzel (1-1) earned the win for the Pioneers.
Shepherd moves to 23-3, 23-3 in conference play, while Glenville State is now 5-23, 5-17. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Seton Hill for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
