Shepherd Football Downs Notre Dame

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  – Junior quarterback Jeff Ziemba (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) completed 18-of-29 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns to lead Shepherd University to a 43-14 win over Notre Dame College in MEC football action at Ram Stadium on Saturday.

Shepherd improves to 4-0, 4-0 in conference play, while Notre Dame falls to 1-3, 1-2.

Shepherd took a 3-0 lead on a 27-yard field goal by senior kicker Ryan Earls (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) with 7:16 left in the first quarter.

DJ Greene scored on a five-yard run minutes later to give Notre Dame a 7-3 advantage.

The Rams retook the lead on a one-yard plunge by junior running back Jabre Lolley (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) with 3:31 left in the first quarter.

Shepherd extended its lead to 13-7 when Earls connected on a 36-yard field goal by Earls with 10:47 left in the second quarter.

The Rams took a 20-7 lead when junior quarterback Jeff Ziemba (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) fired a 27-yard scoring strike to senior wide receiver Dalton Boyd (Winchester, Va./Sherando/William & Mary) with 3:41 left in the second quarter.

Ziemba later teamed with sophomore wide receiver Angelo Jean-Louis (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central/Marshall) on a 77-yard scoring pass with 2:10 left in the half as Shepherd took a 27-7 lead into the break.

Shepherd opened up the second half scoring with a 34-yard field goal by Earls with 7:18 left in the third quarter.

Lolley rambled 63 yards for a score with 17 seconds left in the third quarter to give Shepherd a 36-7 lead.

Malik Grove ran 25 yards for a touchdown with 6:32 left in the game to cut the lead to 36-14.

Sophomore quarterback Connor Jessop (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run/Virginia Tech) fired a 71-yard scoring strike to freshman wide receiver Tyrell Hollingsworth (Perryville, Md./Perryville) with 4:55 remaining to complete the scoring.

Shepherd amassed 551 yards of total offense while Notre Dame had 386 yard of total offense.

Grove completed 34-of-54 passes for 208 yards for Notre Dame.

Grove led all rushers with 13 carries for 103 yards. Senior running back Allen Cross (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) led the Rams with 17 carries for 98 yards. Lolley added 84 yards on nine carries.

Jean-Louis led the Shepherd receivers with three receptions for 107 yards. Boyd added five catches for 74 yards. Mitchell Shegos led Notre Dame with 13 grabs for 52 yards.

Junior outside linebacker Jaylen Johnson (Bowie, Md./Bowie) led the Shepherd defense with 13 tackles (12 solo). Cedric Hill had a team-high eight tackles (seven solos) for the Falcons.

Shepherd amassed 551 yards of total offense while Notre Dame had 386 yards of total offense.

The Rams return to action on Oct. 10 when they travel to Glenville State for a 1 p.m. contest.
