Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Handles Shorter

Box Score ROME, Ga. – Junior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored six goals and senior midfielder/attacker Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) added four to lead Shepherd University (2-5) to a 17-5 win over Shorter University (2-7) in women's lacrosse action at Shorter on Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) had a pair of goals, while senior midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) added one goal and three assists.

Junior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore), junior attacker Kiana Miller (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro), senior defender/midfielder Kelsey Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), and sophomore midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each had a goal for the Rams.

Junior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) contributed a pair of assists, while Miller, Matthews, and junior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) had single assists.

Tiffany Kongpachith tallied three goals to pace the Hawks.

Senior netminder Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) (3) and sophomore goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) (1) combined for four saves for the Rams. Catherine Mitchner (3) and Nicole Kube (1) teamed for four saves for the Hawks.

Shepherd had a 14-3 lead at halftime.

Shepherd had a 36-26 edge in ground balls and a 14-9 advantage in draw controls. The Rams had a 26-13 advantage in shots.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Belmont Abbey for a noon contest.
