Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Defeats Notre Dame

Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio –  Junior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) scored four goals and junior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) added three to lead Shepherd University (5-9, 3-1 MEC) to a 19-6 win over Notre Dame College (5-6, 1-4 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Notre Dame on Friday.

Senior midfielder/attacker Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) added two goals and two assists, while senior midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and junior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) each had two goals and an assist.

Junior attacker Kiana Miller (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) and senior defender/midfielder Kelsey Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) also tallied a pair of goals. Junior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) added a goal and a pair of assists, while sophomore midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) had a goal and an assist.

Brooke Czarnecki recorded a game-high five goals to lead Notre Dame. Debbie Barkman added a goal and Halie Taylor had an assist.

Senior goalkeeper Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) (5) and sophomore goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) (4) combined for nine saves for the Rams. Kait Shannon had 12 saves for the Falcons.

Shepherd had a 12-4 lead at halftime.

Shepherd had a 17-10 advantage in draw controls and a 31-20 edge in ground balls. The Rams had a 45-18 shots advantage.

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Urbana for a noon contest.
