Shepherd Women's Lacrosse Downs West Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior midfielder/attacker Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin)  scored six goals and junior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) added four to lead Shepherd University (4-6, 2-0) to a 20-13 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (4-7, 1-2) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Thursday.

Phelan added two assists and tied her career highs with the six goals and eight points. She also tied a career high with eight draw controls and became Shepherd's all-time leader in that category with 183. She eclipsed the old mark of 178 set by Nicole Ruane (2010-13).

Junior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) added a career highs of three goals and two assists and junior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) tallied three goals.

Sophomore midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) had two goals and an assist, while senior midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and sophomore midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each scored a goal.

Junior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) had a pair of assists, while junior attacker Chrissy Jarboe (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) handed out an assist.

Madison Duvall had four goals and one assist for West Virginia Wesleyan. Caitlyn Baicar, Natalie Schaffner, Kim Lubic, and Hannah Antonelli each added a pair of goals.
 
Senior goalkeeper Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) recorded six saves for the Rams. Lauren Granville had 12 saves for the Bobcats

The Rams had a 13-7 lead at halftime.

Shepherd had a 28-7 advantage in draw controls, while ground balls were even at 18-18. The Rams had a 47-24 edge in shots.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Annapolis (Md.) High School for a 7 p.m. contest against Florida Southern.
