Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. –  Senior midfielder/attacker Erin Phelan (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) scored four  goals and senior attacker Hunter Morris (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) added three goals and two assists  to lead Shepherd University (9-9) to a 17-10 win over Wheeling Jesuit (12-6) in the finals of the MEC Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Wheeling Jesuit on Sunday.

Junior midfielder Haley Price (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), junior attacker Brooke Hunley (Monrovia, Md./Linganore) and sophomore midfielder Courtney Matthews (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) each recorded a pair of goals.  Junior attacker Alex Green (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) had one goal and a pair of assists, while sophomore midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and senior midfielder/attacker Theresa Lang (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) each recorded a goal and an assist,

Junior midfielder Courtney Schwiegerath (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) recorded a goal.

Paige Plesich had three goals and two assists to lead the Cardinals. Julie Tufnell and Mary Burns each added a pair of goals and an assist.

Senior goalkeeper Savannah Shores (Trappe, Md./Easton) had six saves for the Rams. Marie Austin  had seven saves for the Cardinals.

Shepherd had a 26-22 advantage in shots and a 19-9 edge in draw controls. Wheeling Jesuit had a 26-21 advantage in ground balls.

The Rams had a 6-5 lead at halftime.

Notes: Shepherd wins its second consecutive MEC Tournament … the Rams avenged an 11-10 loss to Wheeling Jesuit in the regular season … Erin Phelan gained Tournament MVP honors for the second time.
